Taoiseach hits back over dishonesty claims
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has hit back at the Labour Party after its deputy leader, Brendan Howlin, accused Fianna Fail of dishonesty in some of its claims about the abortion referendum.
Mr Howlin said Fianna Fail had confused the electorate by claiming the proposed referendum would safeguard the legality of the morning after pill, despite the fact that the Referendum Commission said the pill’s status will remain unchanged.
