Man killed in Co Down shooting

A man was shot dead and another injured in a gun attack in Co Down tonight.

The victims were shot in the Burrenbridge Road in Castlewellan just after 7pm.

The second man is believed to be seriously injured.

Assistant Chief Constable Stephen White, who went to the scene, said: ‘‘We are in the early stages of an investigation into a murder that has taken place.

‘‘There is very little else we can say at the moment.’’
