British soldiers join search for missing teenager

One hundred British soldiers have joined the search for 15-year-old Brendan Rushe, who disappeared in Donegal town after attending a disco on Sunday night.

The British soldiers are searching the Co Tyrone side of the border, where Mr Rushe lived, while hundreds of locals, gardai and coastguard officers are searching bogland and waterways in Co Donegal.

Gardai confirmed earlier today that a pair of shoes found at Barnesmore Gap on Tuesday did not belong to the missing teenager, as initially believed.

He was last seen in Donegal town at around 4am on Monday morning, when he told gardai he was planning to take a bus home to Castlederg.

Colette Rushe, his mother, said yesterday that she does not expect to find him alive.
