Transport companies face stiff immigration fines

A new law will fine airlines and shipping companies for bringing in non-nationals without their proper papers.

The companies will be fined €3,000 per passenger where a person fails to have an appropriate passport or visa.

If the company pays the fine within 28 days, they will be able to avoid court and the penalty will be reduced to €1,500.
