Garda station suicide man dies

Colm Peake, the 40-year-old former INLA member who shot himself in the head in a Dublin garda station on Monday, has died in the Mater Hospital.

Colm Peake, the 40-year-old former INLA member who shot himself in the head in a Dublin garda station on Monday, has died in the Mater Hospital.

Mr Peake had been on a life-support machine since being rushed to hospital following the shooting on Monday evening.

He apparently walked into Fitzgibbon Street garda station before brandishing a handgun at the reception desk and shooting himself in front of three gardai and a member of the public.

The separated father-of-six was a native of Belfast, but had been living in Dublin since 1995.
