Search resumes for missing nightclub boy

Gardai today resumed their search for a teenage boy from Northern Ireland who disappeared after leaving a nightclub.

The search resumed hours after Garda officers in Co Donegal found the shoes belonging to 15-year-old Brendan Rushe, from Castlederg, Co Tyrone.

The find was made five miles outside of Donegal Town where he was last seen leaving a nightclub in the early hours of Monday.

A coastguard helicopter on Tuesday carried out a search for the teenager off the north west coast, although a decision has not yet been taken on whether the aerial search would continue today.

A Garda spokesman said: ‘‘The search is resuming this morning and there has been no new information on the whereabouts of this youngster overnight.

‘‘We would continue our appeal to people in the area to watch out for the youngster.’’ Police on both sides of the border said there was ‘‘serious concern’’ for Brendan’s safety.

He is 5ft 8in, of slim build and has dark brown short hair and brown eyes. He has braces on his teeth.

He was wearing a cream shirt, grey trousers and black shoes and had a black jumper with him when he went missing.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police at Castlederg.
