Mayo gas terminal hearing begins
An oral hearing by An Bord Pleanala into the granting of planning permission for an onshore gas terminal in Co Mayo has begun.
Submissions will be heard from various groups and individuals who are opposed to the siting of the terminal near Belmullet.
Mayo county council has already approved the development.
The appeal in Ballina will hear objections from Duchas, An Taisce and a local residents group.
The company behind the terminal, Enterprise Energy Ireland, claims the project will help attract industry to the west.
