Protest marks 10th anniversary of X case

The 10th anniversary of the X case is being marked with protest on O'Connell Bridge in Dublin today followed later by a rally and march from Parnell Square to the GPO.

The controversial 1992 Supreme Court decision allowed a 14-year-old girl, who got pregnant after being raped, to travel to England for an abortion.

The Labour Party's Eithne Fitzgerald, who is taking part in the march, says the Government's planned referendum, which will remove suicide as grounds for a termination, is a 'regressive step'.
