TUI threaten to boycott supervision duties

The Teachers Union of Ireland has said it may support its ASTI colleagues and withdraw from supervision and substitution duties next month.

If they go ahead with the move, it could mean disruption for a further 120 schools, bringing the number caught up in the dispute to around 650.

It is understood the TUI is opposed to non-teachers receiving €34 per hour for supervision and substitution, while union members seeking an improved offer would get nothing for the work.
