PDs to fight election as independent party

The Progressive Democrats say they will fight the upcoming election as an independent party, regardless of their coalition partner’s views.

Party Chairman, Councillor John Minihan, speaking at the party’s annual conference in Limerick today, said: "It is vital to maintain our identity as we attack this election with a clear message.

"I firmly believe if we continue this approach, with an emphasis on our key constituencies, there is no reason we cannot return to Government."

The theme of the conference is ‘Value your vote'.
