Police Board to continue Omagh discussions

The North’s Police Board will meet in private session later today in an effort to resolve the row over Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan’s scathing report into the police handling of the Omagh investigation.

The board has been meeting for the last two days to try to agree on a stance to take.

The Ombudsman recommended that an independent policeman be drafted in to oversee the Omagh investigation, but this suggestion has been rejected out of hand by chief constable Ronnie Flanagan.
