Two students are being treated for multiple serious injuries after being attacked with sledgehammers off Belfast’s Donegal Road.

One of the students, a 21-year-old man, suffered a fractured skull, broken limbs and multiple cuts and bruising.

His friend suffered head injuries.

The incident happened at about 6:30pm yesterday.

Police say up to five attackers were involved in what they say was a "brutal" attack.
