Flooding brings nation to a halt
The country has been brought to a standstill because of flooding caused due to the heavy rain.
In Dublin, both city quays have been inundated as the River Liffey overlapped its banks.
There is also serious flooding reported in southside areas such as Ringsend and Inchicore and on the northside on the North Strand Road.
There is also heavy flooding reported in Cork, Galway and Limerick.
The ESB says it is still trying to re-connect 4,500 houses nationwide following the high winds.
