Govt lashed over pollution record

Green MEP Patricia McKenna has called on the government to improve its dismal record on the environment.

Ms McKenna was speaking as EU Environment Commissioner Margot Wallstrom begins a trip to Dublin.

With 111 active complaints for infringing EU directives, Ireland is the worst per capita offender in the Union.

Ms McKenna said she hopes to discuss the matter with Ms Wallstrom during her visit.
