EU gives €10m grant to north Belfast
The European Union has pledged €10.6m towards the regeneration of communities affected by recent sectarian violence in north Belfast.
The cash will be used to tackle deprivation in the Ardoyne area, where loyalists recently launched a sectarian blockade in an attempt to stop Catholic schoolchildren from walking through their area.
The grant will also fund projects in the Waterworks, Duncairn, New Lodge, Crumlin and St Anne’s areas.
