Parlon to contest general election as a PD

The former IFA president, Tom Parlon has announced he intends to run as a Progressive Democratic candidate in the upcoming general election.

Mr Parlon announced his candidature this afternoon in his home constituency of Laois-Offaly.

It was widely expected that Mr Parlon would declare his intentions to run for a political party after he stood down from the top position in the IFA though it was unknown if he would run for the PDs or Fine Gael.
