Ear bitten off in Derry hospital

A man had part of his ear bitten off and a reception area was badly damaged when two groups confronted each other in the village of Eglington, Co Derry last night.

The trouble started outside Deck’s nightclub where one man had part of his foot severed when it was trapped under a car that was trying to flee the scene.

It is alleged that one of the occupants held on to the man as the vehicle drove off, thereby trapping his foot.

The injured man and several others were taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where the two factions again confronted each other.

One man had part of his ear bitten off at the hospital while a woman was knocked unconscious.

Two men have been arrested and several more arrests are pending.
