Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has claimed the British Government will not confront loyalist paramilitaries in the North because of links between the UDA and the British army.

Mr Adams said the British Government is reluctant to crack down on the UDA because MI5, British military intelligence and the RUC Special Branch used the group in its ‘dirty war’ against the IRA.
