Hospitals to resume surgery schedules

Thanks to the outstanding response to the National Appeal for Blood Donors, Irish hospitals are set to resume normal surgery schedules from Monday.

Thanks to the outstanding response to the National Appeal for Blood Donors, Irish hospitals are set to resume normal surgery schedules from Monday.

Some three thousand people donated blood in just three days this week.

However, some hospitals were still forced to cancel surgeries because they did not have sufficient blood supplies.

Deirdre Healy of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service expressed her thanks to all those who donated this week.
