No protest as Holy Cross school reopens
Pupils of the Holy Cross girls’ primary school in north Belfast walked to school in peace today, despite two nights of sectarian rioting centred around the Catholic school.
Loyalist residents from the Glenbryn estate, where the school is located, had promised not to reinstate their protest, which led to pupils being escorted to school by riot police for more than three months last year.
There was a heavy security presence on Ardoyne Road this morning as the parents and children made their way to the school, but no incidents were reported.
