North's First Ministers call for restraint

Northern Ireland First Minister, David Trimble, and Deputy First Minister, Mark Durkan, tonight condemned the violence in North Belfast and called for restraint and common sense from all sides.

In a joint statement they said "we condemn without reservation the disturbances yesterday and the disgraceful attacks on property at Mercy School today".

Trimble and Durkan also said that dialogue was the only way of resolving conflict and said they had asked officials to arrange an urgent meeting between community activists on the ground.
