UUP to discuss IRA's Colombia links with US Government

The Ulster Unionist Party is to hold talks with senior officials in the US Government over fresh allegations of IRA involvement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The Ulster Unionist Party is to hold talks with senior officials in the US Government over fresh allegations of IRA involvement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

UUP spokesman Reg Empey said he is "looking forward" to the meeting, which comes following the arrest of three Irish republicans in Colombia last year.

James Monaghan, Martin McCauley and Niall Monaghan were arrested after spending five weeks in rebel-controlled territory.

The Colombian authorities have claimed they were training the FARC in urban guerrilla tactics and bomb-making.
