The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has not ruled out raising taxes in the next budget if Fianna Fail are returned to power in the general election, which is expected to take place in May.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has not ruled out raising taxes in the next budget if Fianna Fail are returned to power in the general election, which is expected to take place in May.

Mr Ahern said that his party is currently finalising its financial plans but that any scope for reducing the tax rates are limited because of the current international economic downturn.
