Noonan not ruling out Labour partnership before election

In the run up to the expected general election in May, the leader of the Fine Gael party, Michael Noonan, has refused to give away his pre-election tactics as he aims to become the country’s new Taoiseach.

Mr Noonan has not ruled out forming a tactical alliance with the Labour Party.

The leader of the Labour Party, Ruairi Quinn, has previously said that he would not enter into negotiations with any party before the election takes place.

However, Deputy Noonan maintains that Fine Gael and Labour would make an ideal political partnership and, if they teamed up, they could remove Fianna Fail and the PDs from government.
