Youghal carpets staff to endorse cost-cutting measures

270 workers at Youghal carpets in Cork are expected to endorse a package of cost-cutting measures today.

Proposals were drawn up between unions and management under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission.

Rejection of the proposals would see the company close next February.

Unions are recommending acceptance but the proposals are understood to contain stringent cost cuts.
