The Labour Party has attacked the Government over its failure on nuclear safety after Britain opened a highly controversial mixed oxide (MOX) fuel reprocessing plant at Sellafield today.

Party spokesman Emett Stagg said: “The Government sat on its hands for four years and very belatedly, when the plant was about to be commissioned, it then started seeking to take international action.
