Man charged with nun's murder

A 19-year-old man has appeared before Carrickmacross District Court, charged with the murder of Sr Philomena Lyons.

Kealan Herron, of Derry, Lattin, Castleblayney, is charged with the murder in Ballybay, Co Monaghan, on Saturday.

A garda detective, who arrested the accused at his home today, said that when charged, the defendant made no reply.

District Judge Flann Brennan remanded the man in custody to appear again in court in Drogheda on Friday.
