Motorists have been warned to avoid the northbound M50 in Dublin from the Tallaght by-pass as a convoy of more than 40 protesting truckers is slowing traffic.

The truckers say their livelihoods have been destroyed by Wicklow County Council's decision to stop all illegal dumping in the county.

The Irish Road Haulage Association says it has no connection with today's protest.

The convoy will be travelling into Dublin's city centre past Heuston train station, along the quays before making its way to government buildings.
