Buy your Irish euro for the first time today

The new euro coins will change hands for the first time in Ireland this morning. Starter packs worth IR£5 are now available from post offices and banks, in an effort to get people familiar with the coins before they become legal tender.

The starter packs costing £5 contain at least one of each of the new Euro coins from 1 cent to 2 euro. It will contain 19 coins in all and will be worth a total of 6 euro and 35 cents, exactly the value of £5.
