Govt informs EU of opposition to proposed cuts in fish quotas
Marine Minister Frank Fahey has informed the European Commission of Ireland’s opposition to the proposed cuts in white fish quotas.
Speaking in Brussels, Mr Fahey said Ireland will face profound difficulties if the proposals aren’t modified by next year.
The EC has proposed cuts of between 25% and 55% in most fish quotas in an effort to halt the sharp decline in EU fish stocks.
