Leading loyalist - 'No surprise' if UDA shot Stobie

Leading loyalist John White has said he would not be surprised if the UDA shot William Stobie.

He said: ‘‘I would not be surprised about that given the way he brazenly went on television to speak about what he was involved in.

‘‘I think when he joined the organisation he knew the consequences of that.

‘‘It would appear to me that by going on TV and making a broadcast about his involvement, that would have created quite a lot of anger.

‘‘On top of that, he supported the inquiry into the killing of Pat Finucane.

"Most people within loyalism see this as republicanism taking advantage of the death of Pat Finucane to undermine the credibility of the RUC and also undermine Northern Ireland as an entity in itself.’’
