Man charged with polling station murder bid

A man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder following a gun attack on a polling station in Northern Ireland on the day of the general election.

The 32-year-old has also been charged with the possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Two police officers and a civilian were injured when it's claimed, a gunman fired a burst of fire at a polling station in Draperstown, Co Derry, 15 minutes before it was due to close on June 7.

A gunman jumped out of a car, fired a burst of shots at the front of St Mary's Primary School and sped off in the vehicle.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said accused man was arrested at his home in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, this morning.

He is due to appear in Limavady, Co Derry Magistrates Court in the morning.
