The Irish Seal Sanctuary has been forced to wind down its operations after being snubbed in Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy’s budget this week.

The sanctuary is preparing to release some animals and send the remainder abroad after failing to secure more than £1m in capital funding that it was hoping would be included in the budget.
