£1.6m Lotto prize under injunction

A Co Kildare couple has been granted a High Court injunction preventing the National Lottery from paying out half of Saturday night’s Lotto jackpot.

George and Patricia Murray from Naas, claim that their Lotto agent at the Gem shop in the town gave them a Quickpick ticket - and instead their winning ticket was handed to someone else by mistake.

The winning numbers are the same numbers that the couple claims to play every week.

They say they realised on Sunday that their numbers had come up but when they checked the receipt they found they had been given the wrong ticket.

The National Lottery says that no claim has yet come in for the £1.6m prize.

The injunction will last until Friday.

The numbers at the centre of the row are 2, 6, 9, 16, 18 and 30.
