Walsh gets involved in beet dispute

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has drafted in Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh in an attempt to resolve the 21-day-old dispute between the IFA and Greencore.

Ms Harney hopes Mr Walsh can engage in talks with the IFA, while she will talk to Greencore.

Farmers have been withholding stock from Greencore’s two sugar factories in a dispute over the price the company is offering for sugar beet.
