There is a need for an outright ban on human cloning even for research purposes, according to Labour Party spokesperson on Consumer Affairs, Dr Mary Upton.

Responding to the news that the first human embryo has been cloned in the United States, Dr Upton says there should be a new legislative framework to govern developments in the area of genetic research.
