A 51-year-old Co Meath man has appeared in court in the North charged with murdering an RUC reservist in Co Tyrone 26 years ago.

A 51-year-old Co Meath man has appeared in court in the North charged with murdering an RUC reservist in Co Tyrone 26 years ago.

John Jordan, originally from Dungannon, but now with an address in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, was charged in connection with an IRA landmine attack on an RUC patrol in Sixmilebridge in 1975.

48-year-old Joseph Clement, an RUC officer, died in the attack.

Mr Jordan was arrested in Newtownhamilton, Co Tyrone, on Wednesday.
