BTS denies cover-up over blood scandal

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has denied that it engaged in a cover-up with the Department of Health to ensure that the truth about the infection of haemophiliacs with HIV and Hepatitis C was never revealed.

In its closing submission to the Lindsay Tribunal, the BTS accused the Irish Haemophilia Society of attempting to simplify the matter by claiming that the BTS should have responded quickly to the infection scandal.
