The Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed has urged Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy to invest in jobs and people in his upcoming Budget.

The organisation has called for a £14-per-week increase in basic social welfare payments and a widening of the tax bands to take more low-paid workers out of the tax net.
