Irish households to receive Euro converters

Every household in Ireland will receive a special Euro converter through the post over the next month.

The gadget, which looks like a calculator, is simple to use and converts amounts either to Euro or punts.

Minister for Finance, Charlie McGreevy, has pleaded for the public not to contact him if the converter does not arrive however.

There was widespread controversy regarding the arrival of Millennium candles, another country-wide scheme organised by the Government.
