FG seeks social welfare increases

Fine Gael has demanded significant social welfare increases in this year’s budget after describing the Government’s record on combating poverty as scandalous.

Fine Gael’s pre-budget submission also calls for students participating in the summer jobs scheme to be paid £6 per hour.

Party spokesman Brian Hayes said Ireland’s prosperity has left thousands of people behind.
