Destruction of illegal cigarette shipment begins

Customs officials have begun the process of shredding twenty million cigarettes, which were seized earlier this week.

The illegal shipment was found on a ship arriving from Estonia to Dundalk earlier this week. The destroyed cigarettes were worth about £3m to the Irish Government in lost tax revenues.
