Loyalists agree to suspend protest for 11-plus exam

The residents of the loyalist Glenbryn estate in Ardoyne, north Belfast, have agreed to suspend their long-running protest outside the Catholic Holy Cross primary school today while the children sit their 11-plus exam.

The loyalists will not protest while the children walk to school this morning, but they will resume the demonstration in the afternoon when the parents arrive to bring their children home.

The protest has been running for 10 weeks now and, despite today’s peaceful gesture, the loyalists show no sign of calling it off.
