Sinn Fein councillor resigns

Sinn Fein has lost its first county councillor since the IRA decommissioned some of its weapons.

Brian Macuaid has resigned form the party and his north Monaghan council seat with immediate effect. Mr Macuaid said it was with regret, but he had no other option after his absolute opposition to the direction Sinn Fein has taken.
