Unions are this afternoon meeting with Irish Times management at the paper’s offices in D’Olier St, where they are being briefed on the scale of planned cutbacks.

It is believed that 250 jobs are to go at the newspaper, including up to 100 reporters.

It is not yet known whether the cutbacks will affect Ireland.com, the Irish Times internet site. A statement is expected from the company later today.
