Impounded ship searched for weapons

Gardai investigating the activities of smugglers and dissident republican groups today impounded a ship carrying a cargo of timber.

The ship, the Dunkirk, was held at Drogheda harbour in Co Louth after arriving at the border town from eastern Europe.
