Man to appear before court in connection with murder

A man is due to appear before a special sitting of the Ennis District Court at 5.30pm this evening in relation to the murder of a 19-year-old woman in the Co Clare town last week.

The 30-year-old man was arrested at Shannon Airport last night and has spent the entire day being questioned by detectives at Ennis Garda Station.

The body of Lorraine O’Connor was discovered in a flat in Ennis on Fergus Row last Tuesday.

It is believed that she had been strangled to death some time last Sunday morning and her body was hidden under a bed in the apartment.
