Support for Trimble welcomed by Ahern

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has welcomed the outcome of today’s meeting of the Ulster Unionist Executive today.

Mr Ahern praised the support that was shown for David Trimble by the 110 party members as the party leader bids to regain his position as the North’s First Minister following the commencement of IRA decommissioning.
