Co Louth man jailed for membership of Real IRA
The Special Criminal Court has sentenced a 39-year-old Co Louth farmer to five years in prison after convicting him of membership of the Real IRA.
Liam Campbell, from Upper Faughart in Dundalk, was arrested in October 2000 following a search at his farm.
Walkie-talkies, aerials, cotton gloves, face masks and body suits were seized during the search and the court decided these items, along with his refusal to answer questions, were enough to indicate Mr Campbell was a member of the Real IRA.
