Co Louth man convicted of membership of Real IRA

The Special Criminal Court has convicted a 39-year-old Co Louth farmer of membership of the Real IRA.

Liam Campbell, from Upper Faughart in Dundalk, was arrested in October 2000 following a search at his farm.

Walkie-talkies, aerials, cotton gloves, face masks and body suits were seized during the search and the court decided these items were enough to indicate Mr Campbell was a member of the Real IRA.

The court will sentence the defendant later this afternoon.
